Did you know that residents of North Carolina have a new website they can reference to compare hospitals statewide?

Check out http://www.nchospitalquality.org! It compares the care hospitals provide to surgical patients, heart attack victims and pneumonia patients. The N.C. Hospital Association reported that North Carolina is the first state to launch such a site, which also rates hospitals across the state. They gather information from Medicare, then it compares hospital records to determine if patients improve while being treated at a particular facility. The hospitals are also rated based on their use of recognized medical practices that improve patient care, prevent infection, speed recovery and avoid complications.
